图书作者与内容简介

George Orwell was born into a lower-upper-middle class family. His work is characterized by lucid prose, social criticism, opposition to totalitarianism, and support of democratic socialism. 1984 is a novel he wrote in the last years of his life. Orwell's work remains influential in popular culture and in political culture, and the adjective "Orwellian"—describing totalitarian and authoritarian social practices—is part of the English language, like many of his neologisms in 1984, like "Thought Police", "Room 101"and"Newspeak".

我的观点

21984

This is actually the first time I have read a novel with such a serious issue. To be honest, it is not as bad or difficult to read as I imagined, on the contrary, I am a little immersed in it. At the beginning, I wanted to read this book because its title only had four numbers "1984". It was so simple and concise, but it also aroused my curiosity, and I wanted to know what the text was about. Is it a historical event? Or is it about someone's life? I think after reading this book, I can give myself an answer.

George Orwell was born in poverty, but I think the person who can write this book must have rich knowledge. This book mainly writes the outline of the story by refuting some loopholes in logic that are not easy to find. Not only are the characters in the story constantly thinking about what society is like today, but I think the reader is always confused by the information in the process of reading the real things in the story. The government achieves the goal of an authoritarian society by falsifying history and thought reform the people.

The protagonist in the story also completes the tasks assigned by the government every day, eats the food distributed by the government every day, praises the British people of Big Brother every day, and lives under the surveillance of the government every day. A boring life is irresistible. Once the idea of rebellion arises, it will be arrested by the Thought Police. No one knows where you were arrested. After all, those who were arrested never saw them come back. The government has never cared about the people and things in the slums. Most of the areas they monitor are around where their public servants work and rest, but that doesn't mean the slums aren't patrolled by the Thought Police, which is where our protagonist gets caught letting his guard down.

I think what the author really expressed should be integrated in the last part of the novel. People live in a society that is completely opposite to what they know, and they will constantly doubt whether they are the "heterogeneous". Under the oppression of some tyranny and force in the past, most people only feel that their problems are not other people's problems. Actually, other people seem to be okay sometimes because they were born and raised in this environment, they don't know what "other kind of life" is like, they only know that Big Brother is always right, and Big Brother Saying the opposite is wrong, they've been completely thought reform.

It is mentioned in the story that if they want to overthrow the regime, they can only rely on the people in the slums to fight together. The government may never think that their only weakness is those who they think are unimportant, but the government has also thought that the people in the slums except It is difficult to meet the daily needs of food, so who cares about it? Although I think the government is betting that the people in the slums will never rebel, but according to the content of the novel, I think it is the right bet. In the end, the male protagonist was arrested. Although there were 2+2=5 and other things questioning the government in front of it, he still couldn't stand the torture of force and mental oppression and was successfully thought reform and became one of the many suitors of Big Brother.

To sum up, I think this novel is a book of prophecy. It clearly describes the sinister side of capitalism and the result of people blindly following the masses. It is called a book of prophecy because of today’s The Internet is becoming more and more developed. Although this is much more convenient for our lives, relatively, because people can quickly obtain new information, they become less and less likely to judge whether something is true or not. Isn't it easier to let your own thoughts be manipulated if you pursue what the public says without judging yourself? I think the value of human existence includes the matter of "independent thinking". If a person cannot think independently, no matter what How clever, then he looks like a robot at best.
