Some children survived a plane crash and landed in an island in the middle of the ocean. They wanted to establish leadership and made some rules but at the end they became violence before they were saved by the officers.
我的观点

I did not like it when I first started reading "Lord of the Flies" because I thought it would be too hard to read and really boring. However, as I continued reading it, I found it to be really interesting. Not only because of the attractive plot but also the arguments among the children were so stimulating. The characters in it also symbolize many aspects of our society and warn us from many angles. The change in the children's human nature left a strong impression on me. At the beginning, they knew they were human, not beasts, so they set rules and everyone followed them. However, in the end, they became inhuman and even began killing others. Although there were a few who still retained their humanity, it served as a reminder that being cruel is easier than being kind.
I think the "lord of the flies" in this book represents the evil and corruption within the children's minds. As their power grew, their minds became increasingly corrupted. For example, Jack, who was the chief of the other camp, though not the kindest child initially, became progressively more evil as his power increased. He even wanted to kill other kids. This contrasted starkly with what he had said earlier: "We've got to have rules and obey them. After all, we are not savages. We're English, and the English are best at everything."
Piggy is a main character in this story, the smartest child on the island, but often bullied by others because he is fat. "Which is better—to have rules and agree, or to hunt and kill?" This sentence confirms that he was one of the few childern who did not become evil. However, when he died because the evil camp killed him, it meant that kindness was finally defeated by evil. I think Piggy symbolizes knowledge and disadvantaged communities. The author wants to tell us that people in society often bully the vulnerable and disregard their opinions. Even if they tried, others would not listen. For example, in the story, Piggy said many times that he had the conch in his hand, but not a single person wanted to let him speak, as if the rules didn't even exist.
Ralph, who was the leader of the camp at first, symbolizes leadership and rationality. As the story continued, more and more children went to Jack's camp because they wanted to hunt and for fun. They even started to hunt down Ralph. In the end, all the children go to Jack's camp, symbolizing the evil side. When the evil camp was first established, only a few people wanted to join. But as time passed, more and more people joined the evil camp. In the end, the original camp had only Ralph left in it. From the beginning, there was unity, but in the end, only one person remained, illustrating how leadership in challenging situations can easily collapse.
This book not only explores the nature of humans but also delves into power and societal dynamics through the experiences and transformations of the characters. It tells us that when we face challenging situations, people often lose their rationality and kindness and turn to cruelty and selfishness, sometimes not even considering the impact on others. All they think about is themselves.
After reading this book, I believe it is important for us to understand how dangerous violence and corruption can be within human nature. We need to confront challenges with rationality. If we have power, we must not abuse it, as Lord Acton once said, "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely."
